Parece un agosto más para disfrutar de nuestra urbanización. Aumentan los visitantes y vuelve a cerrarse la desembocadura del río Guadiaro, ante las protestas de muchos, incluido nuestro periódico, que afirma con razón que el cierre “no está a la altura de Sotogrande”. Padecemos los ruidos habituales, incluidos los provocados por las labores de jardinería: no creo que se necesite montar tanta bulla durante tantas horas. Están las operaciones policiales contra los “narcos”. Y tenemos a personajes famosos, que sabemos que están, pero prácticamente no los vemos, porque Sotogrande sigue atesorando entre sus virtudes la discreción. ¿Un agosto más?

Claro que no, es un agosto atípico, por supuesto, a causa del virus. Una paradójica consecuencia es que hay mucha gente en la urbanización, quizá incluso más que otros años, aunque ha variado su origen, puesto que han llegado menos extranjeros y más nacionales.

La falta de aglomeraciones ha potenciado otras actividades, desde los deportes hasta la gastronomía, lo que ha aliviado a nuestros empresarios y trabajadores.

Hablando de aglomeraciones, y del virus, los jóvenes, que siempre nos preocupan, este año lo hacen todavía más. Todos sabemos que los jóvenes deben divertirse, y en grupo, precisamente lo que ha sido difícil para ellos, si no imposible, durante los meses más severos del confinamiento. Sumando a eso el verano y las vacaciones, hemos tenido problemas en toda España, y también aquí.

Como nos ha advertido la EUC Parques Sotogrande, han proliferado algunas noches las reuniones masivas sin mascarillas, las algarabías hasta la madrugada, la bebida en exceso, y accidentes diversos. Uno de ellos, reiterado e insensato, lo protagonizan quienes saltan desde el puente al río Guadiaro, creyendo tontamente que, siendo un río muy ancho, también debe ser profundo.

Aunque la Policía Local y la Guardia Civil, junto con nuestro servicio de seguridad, se han esmerado en prevenir las conductas inapropiadas e irrespetuosas, la responsabilidad de los mayores resulta también ineludible.

Disfrutemos, pues, de un agosto más en Sotogrande, pero recordemos que, junto con las normas de siempre, deberemos cumplir las nuevas, las que han hecho de este mes, y este año, algo tristemente atípico.

It seems like another August to enjoy in the resort. The visitors are increasing and the mouth of the Guadiaro river has once again closed over, faced with the protests of many, including our newspaper, which states with reason that the blockage is “not up to the standard of Sotogrande”. We suffer from the regular noise, including that caused by gardening work: I don´t think it is necessary to cause so much disruption during so many hours. There are the police operations against the “narcos”. And we have famous people, we know that they are there, but we practically don´t see them, because Sotogrande continues to treasure discretion among its assets. Another typical August?

Of course not, it is an atypical August, because of the virus. A paradoxical consequence is that there are lots of people in the resort, perhaps more than in other years, although their origin has varied, given that fewer foreigners and more national tourists have come.

The lack of crowds has boosted other activities, from sport to gastronomy, which has helped out our business people and workers.

Talking about crowding, and the virus, young people, who always worry us, do so even more this year. We all know that young people need to have fun, and in a group, which indeed has been difficult for them, if not impossible, during the most severe months of the confinement. Adding to that the summer and the holidays, we have had problems in all of Spain and also here.

As the UCE for the Parks of Sotogrande has notified us, some nights there have been a large number of mass gatherings without masks, noise until the early hours, excessive drinking and different accidents. One of them, repeated and foolish, involves those who jump from the bridge into the Guadiaro river, stupidly believing that, as it is a very wide river, it must also be deep.

Although the Local Police and the Guardia Civil, along with our security service, have worked hard to prevent inappropriate and disrespectful behaviour, the responsibility of adults is also essential.

So, let´s enjoy another August in Sotogrande, but we should remember that, along with the traditional rules, we should comply with the new ones, those which have made this month, and this year, sadly atypical.
