Nuria Ruiz Acosta /Alejandro-S. Garoz Pérez – N+A ARQUITECTOS

Con más de 18 años de experiencia en el sector de la arquitectura, ahora bajo el nombre de N+A ARQUITECTOS, contadnos un poco más sobre Nuria Ruiz Acosta y Alejandro-S. Garoz Pérez y que conozcamos un poco más de sus trayectorias profesionales.
Sí, parece increíble pero ya han pasado todos esos años.

Nuria: empecé trabajando en dos villas en Sotogrande con un promotor, y al poco tiempo me uní al equipo de uno de los arquitectos más importantes de la zona, McLundie Architects, con quien he estado colaborando hasta hace casi nada, 2, o 3. He compaginado mi colaboración en el estudio de MCL con mi actividad independiente, y no he parado.

Alejandro: por mi parte, profesionalmente inicié mi andadura en Madrid en un eestudio de arquitectura con un enfoque mayoritario dirigido a edificios de promoción pública en Madrid capital y provincia. Grandes promociones de viviendas resultado de Concursos de Arquitectura de calidad arquitectónica.

Después de estas experiencias individuales decidimos formar N+A ARQUITECTOS en el 2007. Ambos aportamos la ILUSIÓN, EL DISFRUTE POR EL TRABAJO Y LA METODOLOGIA común en ambos, aplicando el conocimiento INDIVIDUAL adquirido de las experiencias anteriores. Conocemos, desde dentro, todas las fases del proyecto, y cuando se delega, sabemos exactamente lo que hay que hacer, cómo, y el resultado que debería dar.

Cómo lo hacéis? Es decir, qué hacéis vosotros que sea diferente a lo que ofrecen otros arquitectos?

No es suficiente hacerlo bien, que lo hacemos. Son muchos años en la profesión. La clave cuando un cliente elige a un arquitecto es la empatía, y en si se identifica con él/ella. Es como elegir casa, de repente de una te enamoras. Esto es igual, hay un arquitecto que te transmite y sientes que te entiende, y con ese vas a por todas, y decides poner en sus manos tus sueños. Nosotros tenemos un trato muy cercano. Llevamos un control exhaustivo del proyecto con total transparencia, con reportes periódicos al cliente, eso además, le da confianza. Llevamos los proyectos directamente nosotros. Tenemos nuestros colaboradores, sin embargo, nunca nos desentendemos, y eso se nota en el resultado.

Estamos viviendo un año 2020 muy complejo y extraño. ¿Cree que la pandemia impulsará un cambio en los conceptos actuales de la arquitectura? ¿Los espacios abiertos y vida en el exterior cobran un especial sentido?
La situación ha hecho que tomemos más conciencia de la importancia que tiene la Arquitectura en nuestra vida, y en lo que influye en nuestro bienestar. Ahora se presta más atención al hogar, tanto al exterior, como al interior. El estilo de vida ha dado un giro de 180º, antes salíamos por la mañana a trabajar y no regresábamos hasta el final del día. Creo que todos nos hemos dado cuenta de en qué falla nuestra casa y en qué en necesario mejorarla.

N+A ARQUITECTOS

¿Qué proyectos tiene en marcha?
Tenemos obras ejecutándose bastante interesantes. Lo más destacable son dos viviendas unifamiliares que vamos a entregar en breve. En curso, la construcción de una de las villas más importantes de la zona, y la remodelación de las Piscinas Municipales de San Roque, entre otros, que sin, duda, está siendo un reto.

Sotogrande es un paraíso para cualquier arquitecto. ¿Qué tipo de casa diseñaría para la urbanización en estos momentos? ¿Qué estilo?
Somos defensores de la simplicidad y pulcritud de espacios, sin embargo, a nosotros nos gusta dar algo diferente a la oferta que hay en el momento, y por ejemplo la villa que estamos construyendo es más estilo atemporal depurado que moderno. Hay modernidad en las proporciones y en los espacios, pero al tiempo tiene formas que recuerdan a los palacetes más clásicos. El lujo está en la exclusividad, en la distinción, en el mimo al detalle, y esta casa tiene mucho de dichos conceptos

¿Cómo ve el futuro de la arquitectura y la concepción de estilos, materiales y diseños en la próxima década?
En 10 años no creo que haya demasiados cambios en cuanto a estilo. Sí vemos que las propuestas serán más inteligentes, y se nos va a exigir más a los arquitectos. Será necesaria mayor especialización.

With over 18 years’ experience in the architecture sector, now under the name of N+A ARQUITECTOS, tell us a little more about Nuria Ruiz Acosta and Alejandro-S. Garoz Pérez so we know a bit more about your professional careers.
Yes, it seems incredible that all those years have passed already.

Nuria: I began by working on two villas in Sotogrande with a developer, and within a short time I joined the team of one of the most important architects in the area, McLundie Architects, with whom I collaborated until a very short time ago, 2, or 3. I combined my collaboration with the MCL studio and my independent work, and have never stopped.

Alejandro: For me, I began my professional career in Madrid in an architecture studio which focused mainly on public building projects in Madrid city and the province. These were large housing developments, with contracts awarded after competitions for architectural quality.

After these individual experiences we decided to set up N+A ARQUITECTOS in 2007. We both bring the ENTHUSIASM, ENJOYMENT OF THE WORK AND METHODOLOGY which are common to both of us, and apply the INDIVIDUAL knowledge we have acquired from previous experiences. We know all the phases of a project from the inside, and when work is delegated we know exactly what has to be done, how, and what the result should be.

How do you do it? I mean, what do you do that is different to what other architects offer?
It’s not enough to do a good job, which we do. We have been in the profession for many years. The key when a client chooses an architect is empathy, and whether you identify with him/her. It’s like choosing a house, all of a sudden you fall in love with one. This is the same, there is an architect who conveys things to you and you feel they understand you, so you decide to put your dreams in their hands. We work very closely with our clients. We carry out an exhaustive control of the project with total transparency, giving periodic reports to the client, and that also gives them confidence. We handle the projects directly ourselves. We have our collaborators, but we are very hands-on and that can be seen in the result. 

N+A ARQUITECTOS

2020 is proving a very complicated and strange year. Do you think the pandemic will lead to a change in current concepts of architecture? Are open spaces and life outside taking on a special significance?
The situation has meant that we are becoming more aware of the importance of Architecture in our lives, and what affects our wellbeing. Nowadays, people are paying more attention to their home, the exterior and the interior. Their lifestyle has taken a 180º turn. Before, we used to go out to work in the morning and didn’t come back until the end of the day. I believe we have all realised what our houses lack and in what way they need to be improved.

What projects are you working on at the moment?
We are doing some quite interesting works. The most notable project is for two homes, which we are going to deliver shortly. Under way, we have the construction of one of the biggest villas in the area, and the remodelling of the municipal swimming pools in San Roque, among others, and that, without a doubt, is proving a challenge.

Sotogrande is a Paradise for any architect. What type of house would you design for the urbanisation right now? What style would it be?
We both defend simplicity and neat spaces, but nevertheless we also like to create something different to what there is at the moment. For example, the villa we are building is more timeless and refined in style than modern. There is modernity in the proportions and spaces, but at the same time it has shapes that recall the more classical mansions. Luxury lies in exclusivity, distinction and attention to detail, and this house has many of those concepts.

How do you see the future of architecture and the conception of styles, materials and designs in the next decade?
In 10 years I don’t believe there will be too many changes in terms of style. We do see that projects will be more intelligent and are going to demand more of the architects. Greater specialisation will be necessary.
