El pasado viernes se celebró el III Congreso MIR Colegio San José, llevado a cabo por alumnos de 3º de Secundaria y el Departamento de Ciencias Naturales. Cada año, a través de las asignaturas de Biología y Geología, los alumnos se convierten en investigadores científicos ejerciendo cada uno de ellos como Médico Interno Residente en la especialidad elegida.

Sus investigaciones han culminado en el congreso que tuvo lugar el pasado viernes, celebrado este año de modo virtual. A lo largo del mismo expusieron con presentaciones orales y pósteres sus propuestas de avances científicos, cada uno el campo de la medicina que previamente había investigado.

El evento se inauguró con la charla plenaria “El reto del SARS-CoV-2” impartida por el Dr. D. Julián Olalla, Médico Especialista en Medicina Interna del Hospital Costa del Sol.

Seguidamente tuvo lugar el primer bloque de presentaciones orales, bajo el tema “Avances en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de enfermedades raras”. Tras un descanso, se celebró el segundo bloque de presentaciones orales que versó sobre las “Nuevas tecnologías y su aplicación en la medicina”. El congreso finalizó con la exposición de pósteres y la entrega de diplomas.

El confinamiento no ha sido obstáculo para llevar a cabo este congreso; al contrario, ha supuesto un impulso y su difusión virtual ha hecho posible no sólo la participación de muchas familias sino también de otros centros educativos.

III Colegio San José Congress of Resident Internal Doctors

Last Friday the III Colegio San José Congress of Resident Internal Doctors took place, staged by 3rd year Secondary pupils and the Department of Natural Sciences. Each year, through the subjects of Biology and Geology, pupils become scientific researchers, each acting as a Resident Internal Doctor in the chosen speciality.

Their research culminated in the congress that took place last Friday, held virtually this year. Throughout it they gave oral presentations and displayed posters about their proposals for scientific advances, each on the field of medicine they had researched beforehand.

The event began with the plenary talk “The challenge of SARS-CoV-2” given by Dr D. Julián Olalla, a Specialist Doctor in Internal Medicine at Hospital Costa del Sol.

Afterwards, the first series of oral presentations took place, under the theme “Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of rare illnesses”. After a break, the second series of oral presentations took place on “New technologies and their application in medicine”. The congress ended with the display of posters and the presentation of diplomas.

Confinement was not an obstacle to holding this congress; on the contrary, it was a boost and its virtual dissemination enabled the participation of many families as well as other schools.
