Sergio García regresa a LIV Golf Andalucía con la esperanza de ganar en "su campo favorito"

PREGUNTA. Valderrama es un circuito que conoces muy bien, en el que ya has conseguido varios éxitos. ¿Cómo influye eso en tu preparación para el fin de semana y crees que ayuda a tus posibilidades de victoria?

SERGIO GARCIA: Valderrama es mi campo favorito. Me ha ido muy bien prácticamente siempre que he jugado allí, lo cual siempre ayuda. Pero cada semana es diferente, y vamos con las mejores expectativas, esperando hacerlo lo mejor posible y dar a los españoles mucho que celebrar.

P. Fuera del campo, ¿qué es lo que más te apetece de volver a España?

SG: Estoy deseando que llegue todo: ver al público español, a los aficionados animándonos y, por supuesto, la comida. Es una región incomparable del mundo y una de las más preciadas de España.

P. Compartes equipo con jóvenes talentos como David Puig y Eugenio López-Chacarra, ¿qué has aprendido de ellos y cómo los has visto progresar?

SG: Aunque soy el mayor y prácticamente les doblo la edad, siempre se aprende también de ellos. Intento ayudarles, pero al mismo tiempo veo las cosas buenas que hacen, e intento aprender de ellas. Siempre es divertido formar parte de eso, ver el potencial que tienen y ver cómo evolucionan.

Tengo un equipo joven y me motiva mucho. Ser el mayor con un equipo joven y lleno de talento siempre es bonito. Lo único que les digo es que disfruten del juego. Obviamente, hay que jugar con cabeza, pero intentar disfrutar al máximo y pasarlo bien. Luego, lo hacemos lo mejor que podemos.

QUESTION: Valderrama is a course you know very well, where you have already achieved several successes. How does that influence your preparation for the weekend and do you think it helps your chances of victory?

SERGIO GARCIA: Valderrama is my favourite course. I've done very well almost every time I've played there, which always helps. But every week is different, and we go with the best expectations, hoping to do the best we can and give the Spaniards a lot to celebrate.

P. Off the field, what are you looking forward to most about returning to Spain?

SG: I'm looking forward to everything: seeing the Spanish public, the fans cheering us on and, of course, the food. It's an incomparable region of the world and one of the most prized in Spain.

P. You share a team with young talents like David Puig and Eugenio López-Chacarra, what have you learned from them and how have you seen them progress?

SG: Although I'm the oldest and almost twice their age, you always learn from them as well. I try to help them, but at the same time I see the good things they do, and I try to learn from them. It's always fun to be part of that, to see the potential they have and to see how they evolve.

I have a young team and it motivates me a lot. Being the senior with a young and talented team is always nice. The only thing I tell them is to enjoy the game. Obviously, you have to play with your head, but try to enjoy it as much as possible and have fun. Then we do the best we can.
