San Roque ya sueña con vivir un nuevo Viernes Santo Magno
En la jornada del día 7 de abril, Viernes Santo, la Semana Santa sanroqueña llegará a su punto álgido con la Procesión Magna del Santo Entierro. A lo largo de la tarde y hasta pasada la medianoche procesionarán por las calles del Casco las distintas hermandades y cofradías de la Semana de Pasión, portando algunas de ellas imágenes de gran antigüedad, que ya se veneraban en Gibraltar antes de la caída del Peñón y del traslado de sus habitantes a lo que ahora es San Roque.
Declarada como de Interés Turístico Nacional de Andalucía, la Procesión Magna es una de las más destacables muestras de fervor de la provincia de Cádiz, que sirve de punto de encuentro para muchos sanroqueños que viven fuera de la Ciudad. También es un foco de atracción de turistas españoles y extranjeros, que disfrutan de un gran espectáculo y de la intensidad y solemnidad con las que se vive este día en San Roque.
Desde la Parroquia Santa María la Coronada dará comienzo la Procesión Magna del Santo Entierro con el itinerario siguiente: Plaza de la Iglesia, San Felipe, Plaza de Andalucía, Terrero Monesterio, General Lacy, Colón, Los Reyes, San José, San Nicolás, Rubín de Celis, Plaza de la Iglesia y a la Parroquia.
Cada cofradía irá con una cadencia de 15 minutos desde la primera salida en todos los puntos de paso.
San Roque is already dreaming of living a new Good Friday
On Good Friday, 31st March, Holy Friday, Holy Week in San Roque will reach its climax with the Magna Procession of the Holy Burial. Throughout the afternoon and until after midnight, the different brotherhoods and confraternities of the Passion Week will process through the streets of the old quarter, some of them carrying images of great antiquity, which were already venerated in Gibraltar before the fall of the Rock and the transfer of its inhabitants to what is now San Roque.
Declared to be of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia, the Magna Procession is one of the most outstanding displays of fervour in the province of Cádiz, serving as a meeting point for many San Roqueños who live outside the city. It is also a focus of attraction for Spanish and foreign tourists, who enjoy the great spectacle and the intensity and solemnity with which this day is experienced in San Roque.
From the Parish Church of Santa María la Coronada the Magna Procession of the Holy Burial will start with the following itinerary: Plaza de la Iglesia, San Felipe, Plaza de Andalucía, Terrero Monesterio, General Lacy, Colón, Los Reyes, San José, San Nicolás, Rubín de Celis, Plaza de la Iglesia and the Parish Church. Each brotherhood will go with a cadence of 15 minutes from the first exit at all points of passage.
