LIV GOLF y las grandes estrellas del golf llegan al Real Club Valderrama

El histórico y legendario campo de golf situado en el corazón de Sotogrande acogerá el octavo evento de la temporada 2023 del circuito LIV Golf. Del 30 de junio al 2 de julio el Real Club Valderrama recibirá en sus calles a muchos de los mejores golfi stas del mundo, como Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka y Bryson DeChambeau. Los favoritos patrios Sergio García, David Puig y Eugenio Chacarra también competirán en Valderrama, estos dos últimos en su debut profesional en España.

En su segunda temporada, el campeonato LIV Golf aporta un nuevo enfoque al golf profesional con formatos de juego innovadores y de alta intensidad.  El LIV Golf se celebra en todo el mundo en campos emblemáticos y ha atraído a algunos de los nombres más importantes del mundo del golf profesional para unirse a la competición.

Esto ha ofrecido a los aficionados de todo el mundo una nueva forma de experimentar el golf profesional al más alto nivel. La música en directo y el elemento añadido de un formato competitivo por equipos se suman para crear una atmósfera única que no se parece a nada que los aficionados al golf los propios jugadores hayan experimentado antes.

El LIV Golf ofrece algo para toda la familia en cada torneo con su "Fan Village" interactivo y un ambiente de festival para que los asistentes puedan disfrutar de una

gran cantidad de puestos de comida y bebida en el campo, así como zonas de hospitalidad de clase mundial en el Gallery Club y Club54. Estos cambios, incluidas las innovaciones en torno a la retransmisión en directo por Internet y conciertos de primer nivel contribuyen al objetivo de hacer crecer el deporte del golf llevándolo a todos los rincones del planeta. 2023 es la primera temporada de la Liga en la que el LIV Golf se aventura por todo el mundo con 14 eventos que tendrán lugar en Estados

Real Club Valderrama está considerado como uno de los mejores campos de golf del continente y ocupa un lugar especial en la historia del golf por los inolvidables momentos vividos en la Ryder Cup de 1997. Este evento destaca como un hito en la historia del club y del golf español, ya que marcó el debut de Lee Westwood, que jugó un papel crucial en la victoria del equipo europeo ese año sobre el equipo estadounidense, que incluía al famoso golfista Phil Mickelson, en un partido muy reñido. Tanto Westwood como Mickelson participarán en el próximo torneo, lo que se suma a muchos de los hilos argumentales de cara a la edición inaugural del LIV Golf Valderrama.

Además, el Real Club Valderrama tiene un importante valor sentimental como

lugar emblemático, especialmente para la leyenda española y campeón del Masters 2017 Sergio García. El golfista español ha logrado un éxito notable

en Valderrama, ganando el Andalucía Masters en tres ocasiones (2011, 2017 y 2018).

Formato del LIV Golf

A lo largo de la temporada, 48 jugadores compiten en 12 equipos que juegan tres

rondas y con todos los participantes comenzando al mismo tiempo en lo que se conoce como ‘shotgun-start’ (salida a tiro). Cada jugador compite simultáneamente por los puntos individuales, así como por los puntos de equipo para determinar los campeones individuales y de equipo en cada evento del LIV Golf . El campeón de la liga

individual 2023 se decidirá en función de los puntos acumulados a lo largo de toda la temporada, mientras que el campeonato por equipos se decidirá en un torneo de fi nal de temporada.

LIV GOLF AND MAJOR GOLF STARS COMING TO REAL CLUB VALDERRAMA

From 30 June to 2 July, Real Club Valderrama will welcome many of the world’s best golfers including Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau to its fairways. Home favourites Sergio García, David Puig and Eugenio Chacarra, will also be competing at Valderrama, the latter two making their professional debuts in Spain.

LIV Golf, in its second season, brings a new approach to professional golf with

innovative and high-intensity playing formats. The LIV Golf League takes place across the world at iconic courses and has attracted some of the biggest names in the world of professional golf to join the competition. It has given fans across the world a new way to experience professional golf at the highest level.

With high-intensity shotgun-starts, live music, and the adding to element of a competitive team format, to create a unique atmosphere which is unlike anything golf fans - or players – have experienced before. LIV Golf offers something for the entire family at each tournament at its interactive "Fan Village" with a festival atmosphere so

These changes, including innovations around online live streaming, and headline

concerts contribute to the aim of growing the sport of golf by taking it to every corner of the planet. 2023 is the first season for the League which has seen LIV Golf venture around the  orld with 14 events which take place across the United States, Singapore, Australia, Spain, the UK, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Real Club Valderrama is widely regarded as one of the fi nest continental golf courses, and it holds a special place in golf history due to the unforgettable moments from the 1997 Ryder Cup. This event stands out as a highlight in the club’s and Spanish golfi ng history. It marked the debut of Lee Westwood, who played a crucial role in the

European team's victory that year over the American team, which included renowned golfer Phil Mickelson, in a closely contested match. Both Westwood and Mickelson will be participating in the upcoming tournament, adding to many of the storylines heading into the inaugural LIV Golf Valderrama event.

Furthermore, Valderrama holds signifi cant sentimental value as an iconic venue, particularly for Spanish legend and 2017 Masters Champion, Sergio García. The Spanish golfer has achieved remarkable success at Valderrama, winning the Andalucía

Masters there on three occasions in 2011, 2017, and 2018.

LIV Golf - The FormatThroughout the season, 48 players compete in 12 teams who play three rounds with all the participants beginning at the same time in what is known as a shotgun-start. Each player competes simultaneously for individual honours, as well as team points to determine individual and team champions at each LIV Golf event. The overall 2023 Individual league champion will be decided on points accumulated throughout the season and the Team Championship is decided in an end of season tournament.
