Entrevistamos a Dani Rodríguez, candidato del PP a la Alcadía de San Roque

Un placer conocerte y presentarte a la comunidad de Sotogrande y el Valle del Guadiaro. Cuéntanos un poco sobre tu trayectoria y presentación a los lectores como candidato a la Alcaldía por el Partido Popular.

Es un placer saludar a todos los lectores y ofrecerles un primer avance de este proyecto que ponemos en marcha desde el Partido Popular de San Roque con toda la ilusión y los máximos objetivos para las Elecciones Municipales del 28 de mayo. Soy sanroqueño de toda la vida, crecí en Puente Mayorga y he vivido desde hace muchos años en el casco.

Soy funcionario y llevo más de 20 años sirviendo y protegiendo a la ciudadanía como Policía Local en San Roque. Ese precisamente es mi objetivo desde la Alcaldía para con los vecinos: servir y proteger sin diferenciar la zona en la que resida, el color político que defienda, ni las peticiones que nos exijan como sanroqueños. No soy nuevo en esto, comencé mi andadura política en el año 2015. Fui elegido como concejal, pero por motivos obvios de incompatibilidad con mi puesto de trabajo, tuve que renunciar al acta. Aunque he seguido de manera cercana y participativa el desarrollo de la vida política y la gestión municipal.

¿Cómo decides dar el paso y asumir la candidatura?

Cuando se presenta una oportunidad así, entre los muchos planteamientos que se hace uno, está el de exigirse una responsabilidad y asumirla, dando un paso cuando es necesario y colocándose al frente de un proyecto de tal importancia. El ofrecimiento me llegó por parte del presidente provincial y local del Partido Popular [Bruno García y Ramón Aranda, respectivamente]. Lo asumí como el gran reto de trabajar por San Roque.

Estamos en un momento importante para el desarrollo y crecimiento de San Roque, imagino que serán muchos los planes que tienes en mente.

Así es. San Roque es una joya que aún está en la piedra, sin pulir. Contamos con el polo industrial y energético más importante de Andalucía y por supuesto, disfrutamos de la notoriedad y la relevancia de un lugar tan estratégico como el Valle del Guadiaro y Sotogrande, grandes motores económicos y turísticos de primer nivel. Pero San Roque necesita empleo, empleo estable, y necesita un contexto adecuado para atraer inversiones relevantes a la zona. Estoy convencido que todo ello puede conseguirse con nuestras propuestas y de la mano del presidente autonómico, Juanma Moreno, un gran impulsor en estos proyectos. Tenemos los datos, las ganas y el equipo. Vamos a ponerlo en marcha.

La carta de presentación va muy ligada a tu desempeño laboral. ¿Los años de servicio, a pie de calle, te han permitido tomarle el pulso a las inquietudes de los ciudadanos?

Lo has explicado perfectamente. Llevo más de 20 años ejerciendo como policía a lo largo de todo el término, conozco a la perfección sus barriadas y a su gente. Conozco sus problemas, sus necesidades, sus inquietudes en el día a día. Los vecinos necesitan un alcalde cercano, humilde, sin esa soberbia. Un alcalde que les escuche y que pueda solucionar sus problemas. En mi caso ya lo hacía como agente y ahora espero hacerlo desde la Alcaldía.

Aprovecho para colar una pregunta local. El Valle del Guadiaro guarda aún mucho potencial por explotar…

Tenemos grandes proyectos para ese área. Es una de las zonas más importantes de todo el sur de Europa en el segmento del turismo y del deporte de alto nivel. Tenemos polo, golf, vela, playas, hoteles, restauración, todo lo necesario para seguir creciendo a través de la inversión y generando empleo y riqueza. También estamos configurando proyectos relevantes para otras zonas comerciales, como la de Pueblo Nuevo, con más espacios de aparcamientos y servicios que permitan una mejor experiencia y comodidad al usuario.

¿La renovación de la administración local es una de sus grandes claves?

Los procedimientos más cotidianos en el Ayuntamiento, desafortunadamente, continúan siendo muy complejos y lentos a día de hoy. Sabemos cómo agilizar y facilitar todos esos sistemas para ofrecer una gestión municipal modélica, moderna y que permita al ciudadano contar con cualquier procedimiento desde las alcaldías de barrio, sin tener que visitar el casco. Eso actualmente no ocurre. Tengo una gran experiencia y conocimiento sobre la administración local, en este sentido, y vamos a ponerlo en práctica.

Antes de acabar, ¿cuáles son los siguientes pasos?

Ya tenemos conformada una extraordinaria lista de compañeros que me acompañan en este desafío y cuyos nombres iremos dando a conocer en los próximos días, así como los diferentes planes y proyectos del programa. Por San Roque, hay que sumar. Tenemos conocimiento como principal partido de la oposición, en estas dos últimas legislaturas, de todo el funcionamiento interno para bien y para menos bien. Si a este conocimiento sumamos las propuestas de profesionales y voluntarios, más el apoyo de la subdelegación y la Junta de Andalucía con las competencias propias de los proyectos necesarios de desarrollar y mejorar en San Roque, hay que ponerse a trabajar en firme. Puntualmente sí puedo avanzar que contamos con muy buenos representantes de la zona del Valle del Guadiaro que trabajarán mucho por su desarrollo. Esperamos que los sanroqueños depositen esa confianza en nosotros. Estoy convencido de que podemos gobernar tras los resultados de las próximas elecciones municipales.

It is a pleasure to meet you and present you to the community of Sotogrande and Valle del Guadiaro. Tell us a little about your trajectory and present yourself to the readers as a Mayoral candidate for the Partido Popular.

It is a pleasure to greet all the readers and offer them a first glimpse of the project that the Partido Popular of San Roque is launching with all of the excitement and big objectives for the Municipal Elections on 28 May. I am a lifelong San Roque local I grew up in Puente Mayorga and I have lived in the centre for many years.

I am a civil servant and I have spent more than 20 years serving and protecting citizens as a Local Police officer in San Roque. That indeed is my objective at the Mayoral Office to residents: to serve and protect differentiating between the area I live in, the political colours I champion, or the requests that the locals of San Roque make to us. I am not new at this, I began my political trajectory in 2015. I was elected as a councillor but, for obvious reasons of incompatibility with my job, I had to give up my position. However, I have followed the development of the political life and municipal management in a very close and participatory way.

How did you decide to take the step and become the candidate?

When an opportunity like that comes up, among the many considerations you make, that is that of demanding responsibility from yourself and assuming it, taking a step forward when necessary and putting yourself at the forefront of a project of such importance. The offer came through the provincial and local president of the Partido Popular [Bruno García and Ramón Aranda, respectively]. I accepted it as the great challenge of working for San Roque.

We are at an important time for the development and growth of San Roque, I imagine that you have many plans in mind.

Roque is a gem that is still in the stone, unpolished. We have the most important industrial and energy hub in Andalusia and of course, we enjoy the renown and importance of such a strategical place as Valle del Guadiaro and Sotogrande, great top-level economic and tourism driving forces. However, San Roque needs employment, stable employment, and it needs a suitable context to attract important investments to the area. I am convinced that all of this can be achieved with our proposals alongside the regional president, Juanma Moreno, a great supporter of these projects. We have the figures, the desire, the team. We are going to get going.

Your introduction is very closely linked to your working performance. Have years of service, at street level, enabled you to take the pulse of the concerns of citizens?

You’ve explained it perfectly. I have spent more than 20 years working as a police officer offer throughout the municipality, I have a perfect knowledge of its neighbourhoods and people. I know its problems, its needs, its daily concerns. Residents need a mayor who is friendly, humble, without arrogance. A mayor who listens to them and can resolve their problems. In my case, I already did so as an agent and I hope to do so now through the Mayoral Office.

Allow me to take the chance to get a local question in. Valle del Guadiaro still has a lot of potential to exploit...

We have great projects for that area. It is one of the most important areas in all of southern Europe in the segment of tourism and high-level sport. We have polo, golf, sailing, beaches, hotels, restaurants, everything needed to continue growing through investment and generating employment and wealth. We are also designing important projects for other commercial areas, such as that of Pueblo Nuevo, with more parking spaces and services that could enable a better experience and convenience for users.

Is the renewal of the local administration one of its great keys?

The most daily procedures in the Council, unfortunately remain very complex and slow at present. We know how to streamline and facilitate all those systems to offer exemplary and modern municipal management that enables systems to do any procedure from the mayoral offices in the district, without having to visit the centre. This does not happen at present. I have lots of experience and knowledge of the local administration, in this regard, and we are going to put it into practice.

Before finishing, what are the next steps?

We have already created an extraordinary list of colleagues who are supporting me on these challenges and whose names we will announce over the coming days, as well as the different plans and projects of the programme. For San Roque, we need to contribute more. As the main opposition party over the last two legislatures, we are aware of all the internal functioning, both the good and the bad. In addition to that knowledge, if we add the proposals of professionals and volunteers, plus the support of the sub-delegation and the Regional Government of Andalusia with the competencies of the projects needed to develop and improve in San Roque, it is necessary to hit the ground running. I can now announce that we have very good representatives from the area of Valle del Guadiaro who will really work a lot for its development. We hope that the people of San Roque will place that trust in us. I am convinced that we will be able to govern after the results of the next municipal elections.
