Gran desembarco de la ‘Armada Española’ para Aramco Team Series en La Reserva Club

Carlota Ciganda liderará el ataque español en La Reserva Club de Sotogrande, del 18 al 20 de agosto. Ana Peláez Triviño, Nuria Iturrioz, Carmen Alonso entre otras jugadoras españolas.

Aramco Team Series del Ladies European Tour impulsa un gran aterrizaje de estrellas españolas este verano, cuando la siguiente parade de los cinco torneos de un millón de dólares regrese a Sotogrande en agosto. Después de tres días emocionantes en las Aramco Team Series - Londres, las Series se centran ahora en la costa sur de España, donde un campo lleno de superestrellas del golf mundial luchará por segundo año consecutivo en torno al sensacional Club La Reserva, Sotogrande.

La primera edición de 2021 atrajo a muchos de los nombres más importantes del mundo del golf femenino, como las ganadoras de un Major y estrellas de la Solheim Cup Paula Creamer y Lizette Salas, además del trío inglés Georgia Hall, Charley Hull y Bronte Law, cuya batalla a tres bandas en Centurion el pasado fin de semana llevó a la Aramco Team Series - Londres a un final épico, con Law hundiendo un putt de 15 metros para ganar.

Mientras que los grandes nombres internacionales permanecen en secreto por el momento, las Aramco Team Series pueden anunciar hoy algunas de las estrellas españolas más populares que se enfrentarán tanto en equipo como en solitario para competir por una parte de 1 millón de dólares, del 18 al 20 de agosto.

El equipo estará liderado por Carlota Ciganda, cinco veces campeona de la Solheim Cup y la mejor golfista española del ranking, que intentará hacer una buena actuación en casa, en un campo de golf situado a sólo 20 km de Finca Cortesín, sede de la Solheim Cup 2023.

Junto a la ocho veces campeona del Tour jugarán las favoritas del LET Nuria Iturrioz (Mallorca), María Hernández (Pamplona), Carmen Alonso (Valladolid), Paz Marfa Sans (Barcelona), Elena Hualde (Pamplona), Elia Folch (Barcelona), Harang Lee (Bilbao), Luna Sobrón Galmes (Mallorca), Marta Martín (Madrid) y Marta Pérez (Valencia).

A ellas se unirá la malagueña Ana Peláez Triviño, campeona del Open Femenino de Madrid 2022, que se convirtió en profesional hace sólo un año en el debut de las Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande.

Peláez Triviño dijo: "Volver a jugar otro evento del Ladies European Tour en España va a ser algo realmente especial, sobre todo por tratarse de las Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande, el torneo en el que debuté como profesional el año pasado".

"Tengo muchos recuerdos increíbles de esa semana, desde jugar junto a muchas de las golfistas a las que admiraba mientras crecía, hasta el increíble apoyo que yo y todas las jugadoras españolas sentimos por parte de los aficionados que acudieron en gran número a ver y ser parte de un gran fin de semana en La Reserva, donde el campo de golf era espectacular.

"A nivel personal, he tenido casi el año de mis sueños desde que jugué las Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande: desde volver a Estados Unidos a competir, pasando por ser invitada a jugar el Madrid Ladies Open y luego ganar ese torneo, hasta llegar a buenos finales en los eventos de las Aramco Team Series en Bangkok y en Londres - ¡ha sido una locura! No puedo esperar a terminar en Sotogrande en agosto".

El Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande será el tercero de los cinco torneos Aramco Team Series de un millón de dólares del calendario del LET de esta temporada, tras el primer torneo de mayo en Bangkok y el de junio en Londres. A Sotogrande le seguirán los eventos de la Aramco Team Series en Nueva York y Jeddah, todos ellos con un formato único en el que tres profesionales del LET juegan en equipo con un jugador amateur.

The Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series presented by PIF will bring a host of Spanish stars back to the Costa Del Sol this summer when the latest of its five $1million tournaments returns to Sotogrande in August.

Fresh from a thrilling three days at the Aramco Team Series - London, the Series now turns its focus to the south coast of Spain, where a field packed with global golf superstars will battle it out for the second year in a row around the sensational La Reserva Club, Sotogrande.

Set to attract many of the biggest names in the women’s game, 2021’s debut event welcomed the likes of Major-winners and Solheim Cup stars Paula Creamer and Lizette Salas, plus English trio Georgia Hall, Charley Hull and Bronte Law, whose three-way battle at Centurion last weekend brought the Aramco Team Series - London to an epic conclusion, with Law eventually sinking a 50ft eagle putt to win.

While the big international names remain under wraps for the time being, the Aramco Team Series can today announce some of the hugely popular Spanish stars set to go head-to-head both as teams and solo players as they compete for a share of $1million, August 18-20^th.

They will be led by five-time Solheim Cup stalwart and Spain’s top-ranked women golfer, Carlota Ciganda, who will be aiming to put in a strong home performance on a golf course just 20km from Finca Cortesin, host venue of the 2023 Solheim Cup.

Set to play alongside the eight-time Tour champion are Spanish LET favourites Nuria Iturrioz (Majorca), Maria Hernandez (Pamplona), Carmen Alonso (Valladolid), Paz Marfa Sans (Barcelona), Elena Hualde (Pamplona), Elia Folch (Barcelona), Harang Lee (Bilbao), Luna Sobron Galmes (Majorca), Marta Martin (Madrid) and Marta Perez (Valencia).

And joining them will be breakout star and local hero Ana Peláez Triviño of Malaga, the 2022 Madrid Women’s Open champion, who turned professional only a year ago at the debut Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande.

Peláez Triviño said: “Coming back to play another Ladies European Tour event in Spain is going to be something really special, especially with it being the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande, the tournament I made my professional debut in last year.

“I have so many amazing memories of that week, from playing alongside many of the golfers I looked up to growing up, to the incredible support me and all the Spanish players felt from the fans who came out in big numbers to watch and be part of a great weekend at La Reserva, where the golf course was spectacular.

“On a personal level, I’ve had almost the year of my dreams since playing the Aramco Team Series - Sotogrande: from heading back to the States to compete, to being invited to play in the Madrid Ladies Open and then winning that tournament, to posting strong finishes in both the Aramco Team Series events in Bangkok and in London – it’s been crazy! I can’t wait to round it off back in Sotogrande in August.”

The Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande will be the third of five $1million Aramco Team Series tournaments on the LET calendar this season, following May’s Bangkok opener and June’s London event. Sotogrande will be followed by Aramco Team Series events in New York and Jeddah, all of which are played to a unique format in which three LET professionals play in teams with one amateur player.
