Alejandro de Miguel, campeón del mundo de golf para ciegos celebrado en Sudáfrica

El golfista madrileño Alejandro de Miguel se ha alzado con el título de campeón del mundo de golf para ciegos totales, disputado en Ciudad del Cabo (Sudáfrica).

Es el primer español en conseguir este trofeo, después de dos jornadas de juego muy complicadas por el viento. De Miguel partía el último día con seis golpes de desventaja, pero supo agarrarse al campo y, junto a su guía, Javier Parrilla, finalizó levantando la copa que le acredita como el nuevo rey del golf para ciegos.

Cabe recordar que Alejandro de Miguel fue el primer español ciego en ganar el British Open (2022); el primero en disputar la Ryder Cup (Europa contra EE.UU. y Canadá con el mismo formato que la tradicional). En 2018 fue subcampeón del mundo. En el mismo torneo, el otro participante español, Marc Oller, finalizó en quinta posición en categoría B2 (golfistas con discapacidad visual).

The Madrid golfer Alejandro de Miguel was crowned world golf champion for fully blind people, at the tournament in Cape Town (South Africa).

He is the first Spaniard to win this trophy, after two days of very difficult play due to the wind.

De Miguel started on the last day six shots behind, but he was able to get to grips with the course and, alongside his guide, Javier Parrilla, he ended up lifting the cup that accredits him as the new king of golf for blind people.

It is worth remembering that Alejandro de Miguel was the first blind Spaniard to win the British Open (2022); the first to compete in the Ryder Cup (Europe against the United States and Canada with the same format as the traditional one). In 2018 he was the world runner-up.

In the same tournament, the other Spanish participant, Marc Oller, finished fifth in the B2 category (golfers with a visual handicap).
