El precio de Frankenstein Bis
El anterior secretario general del PSOE, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, acuñó en 2016 la expresión “gobierno Frankenstein”, para señalar la imposibilidad de que los socialistas gobernaran España aliados con la ultraizquierda y con los nacionalistas enemigos de España. Se equivocaba, y el monstruo cobró vida. En efecto, Pedro Sánchez presidió un gobierno Frankenstein, y es posible que en 2023 lo vuelva a hacer, si paga el precio que exigen los independentistas.
Sánchez logró su apoyo, en particular del grupo de Junts per Catalunya, liderado por el prófugo Carles Puigdemont, para constituir la Mesa del Congreso, y designar presidenta a Francina Armengol. Si los socialistas logran repetir este éxito en la sesión de investidura, Pedro Sánchez renovará en el cargo y continuará residiendo en el Palacio de la Moncloa.
El precio de Frankenstein Bis, sin embargo, incluye dos apartados que chocan contra la Constitución Española: el referéndum de independencia para Cataluña y la amnistía para los encausados por el referéndum ilegal del año 2017. Hay que recordar que el año próximo hay elecciones en esa comunidad autónoma, que el nacionalismo está dividido, que ha perdido apoyos electorales, con la excepción de Bildu, y que no existe tal cosa como la pacificación catalana que pregona la izquierda. Los independentistas no harán presidente nuevamente a Sánchez sin arrancarle nuevas cesiones que puedan presentar ante sus votantes como conquistas en el camino hacia la propia soberanía. Por su parte, Sánchez ha demostrado que es muy difícil anticipar con precisión cuáles son sus límites a la hora de negociar cualquier cosa con tal de mantenerse en el poder. Puede intentar alguna componenda que salve la cara del PSOE, y que los nacionalistas terminen aceptando, con la idea de que quizá les perjudique el forzar unas nuevas elecciones.
El PP, entre tanto, lame sus heridas después de su amarga victoria, no termina de aclarar su relación con Vox, y espera neutralizar parcialmente la política de Frankenstein Bis desde su mayoría absoluta en el Senado.
En la novela de Mary Shelley, el final se precipita cuando el monstruo reclama al Dr. Frankenstein que le cree una compañera. En nuestra política podremos comprobar, una vez más, que la realidad supera la ficción.
The Price of Frankenstein Mark II
The former secretary general of the PSOE, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, coined the expression "Frankenstein government" in 2016 to demonstrate the impossibility of the socialists governing Spain allied with the ultra-left and with nationalists who are the enemies of Spain. He was wrong and the monster came to life. Indeed, Pedro Sánchez presided over a Frankenstein government and it is possible that he will do so again in 2023 if he pays the price demanded by the “independentistas”.
Sánchez obtained their support, in particular from the Junts per Catalunya group, led by the fugitive Carles Puigdemont, to form the Parliamentary Board of Congress, and appoint Francina Armengol as the chair. If the Socialists manage to repeat this success in the investiture session, Pedro Sánchez will maintain his position and continue to reside in the Palacio de la Moncloa.
The price of Frankenstein Mark II though includes two sections that clash with the Spanish Constitution: the independence referendum for Catalonia and the amnesty for those accused by dint of the illegal referendum of 2017. It should be recalled that next year there are elections in said autonomous community, that nationalism is divided, that it has lost electoral support, with the exception of Bildu, and that there is no such thing as the Catalan pacification that the left preaches. The independentistas will not make Sánchez prime minister again without wresting new concessions from him that they can present to their voters as victories on the road to their own sovereignty. In turn, Sánchez has shown that it is very difficult to accurately anticipate what his limits are when it comes to negotiating anything in order to stay in power. He may attempt some sort of compromise that saves the face of the PSOE, and that the nationalists end up accepting, on the basis that forcing new elections may harm them.
The PP, meanwhile, licks its wounds after its bitter victory. It has still not wholly clarified its relationship with Vox, and it hopes to partially neutralise the Frankenstein Mark II policy with its absolute majority in the Senate.
In Mary Shelley's novel, the end comes all too soon when the monster demands that Dr. Frankenstein create a mate for it. In Spanish politics, we will be able to observe, once again, that truth is stranger than fiction.
