Antonio tiene varias clínicas dentales en la zona. Desde meses atrás, le preocupaba que una de ellas había sido “tomada” por la coordinadora y por una auxiliar con la que había hecho buenas migas. Se habían hecho tan amigas que Javier, director comercial, decía estar desinformado y desplazado en asuntos importantes. Lucía, la coordinadora, por su parte, se quejaba del desempeño de Javier que, además, lleva poco tiempo en la empresa. Cada vez había más tensión entre ellos.

Antonio decidió reestructurar trasladando a la auxiliar a otra clínica y solicitar una mediación para resolver el conflicto entre Lucía y Javier en un clima neutral y participativo. Programamos 3 sesiones: Lucía y Javier; Antonio y Lucía y, una última, con los tres. En la primera, Lucía y Javier acordaron cómo iban a mejorar su comunicación y reconocieron los desempeños eficientes del otro. La segunda sesión sirvió a Antonio para empoderar a Lucía, agradecer la confianza que deposita en ella después de años y motivarle a comunicarse mejor con Javier según lo acordado. Durante la última sesión con los tres se elaboró un plan estratégico de mejora por competencias, se redactó el acuerdo final y se propuso celebrar una sesión de seguimiento en 3 meses.


Mediation in Companies

Antonio has various dental clinics in the area. For months now, he has been worried that one of them had been “taken over” by the coordinator and by an assistant that she had really hit it off with. They had become such good friends that Javier, the commercial director, stated that he was not informed and felt rather out of place on important issues. In turn, Lucía, the coordinator complained about the performance of Javier, who, furthermore, has not been at the company for a long time. There was increasing tension between them.

Antonio decided to restructure by moving the assistant to another clinic and requesting a mediation session in order to resolve the conflict between Lucía and Javier in a neutral and participative environment. We organised 3 sessions: Lucía and Javier; Antonio and Lucía and a final session with the three of them. In the first session, Lucía and Javier agreed how they were going to improve their communication and acknowledged the efficient performance of the other. The second session enabled Antonio to empower Lucía, to thank her for the trust he had placed in her for years, and to motivate her to communicate better with Javier according to what had been agreed. During the last session with the three of them, a strategic improvement plan according to competencies was created, the final agreement was drafted and a proposal was made to hold a follow-up session in 3 months.
